SOUND AND IMAGE – WHAT THE FUCK IS REAL?
SOUND AND IMAGE is concert series that was premiered in the beginning of 2014 at the Ultraschall Festival Berlin. In 2015 Ensemble Garage presented SOUND AND IMAGE at the festival in Warsaw of Kwadrofonik and it’ll be performed in Karlsruhe (ZKM) and Cologne (TRIPCLUBBING of the Philharmonic Cologne).
Ensemble Garage is always searching for new concert formats and various artistic interpretations to show the cultural duty of contemporary music. SOUND AND IMAGE is a multimedia concert program with a pool of works of young composers, which deals with the artistic treatment of multimedial concepts and questions about reality and the reception of virtual reality and the reality of sound. At the same time SOUND AND IMAGE is a critical concert form to ask questions about creating (a reality) of an artistic „image“.
It’s a well known phenomenon that program notes and biographys influence the reception of an artistc work in art and contemporary music. But the intentional manipulation of vitas and program notes to deceive the audience by creating (wrong?) expectations and projections is a live experiment in the concert room.
IMAGE or IMAGE?
SOUND AND IMAGE includes the hand out of a paper program with image-creating texts about the composers and the pieces – but the texts about the pieces and vitas are party manipulated to create a reality of the composer and a (perhaps) fake-guide for the reception. Only a communication in the audience, in a talk between people bevor, in the break or after the concert uncover these „facts“ – but even if they know about the pieces or the composers, they don’t know, if this is THE TRUTH or just a completely fake. The audience have to find a strategy to „listen“ or „post-listen“.
